Looking for Lilith Theatre Company is excited to announce its Fifteenth Anniversary season. From its inception in New York City in 2001, when LFL devised and produced one show a season, to the announcement of 15 years of creating and producing theatre, LFL has created nine original works, now produces a season of three mainstage productions, travels regularly to Guatemala for its Faith Stories Project, serves hundreds of area-children in its after school and summer programs, tours many of their original shows in and beyond Kentucky, including CHOICES: An Interactive Play on Cyberbullying and Suicide, and works with Latina immigrants in our community.

LEGACY OF LIGHT OCT 27-NOV 5, 2016
In the fall of 2016, LFL produces Karen Zacarías’ LEGACY OF LIGHT at the Henry Clay Theatre, October 27-November 5. This Louisville premiere is a luminous exploration of women scientists intertwined with the expanding definition of motherhood, which was originally commissioned by Arena Stage in Washington, DC. DC Theatre Scene declared, “Zacarias, doing her finest writing to date…equates the laws of physical science with human love and uses magical realism in some dreamlike moments to draw together her serendipitous stories.” LFL is proud to produce a script that lifts up an oft-forgotten woman scientist, Emilie du Châtelet, and also opens up a discussion of the challenging decisions involved in surrogate pregnancies.

ALICE IN BLACK AND WHITE MAR 9-18, 2017
Building on the excitement of a sold-out two-week run at 59E59 Theaters, Looking for Lilith announces that its 2017 Women’s History Month production will be a revival of its 2013 world premiere of Robin Rice’s ALICE IN BLACK AND WHITE. The production will return to the MeX Theater in March 2017 for eight performances.

The Broadway World review states, “beautifully written by Robin Rice, splendidly directed by Kathi E.B. Ellis and featuring an excellent cast, this is one to see.” Reviving “Alice” in Louisville will give Louisville audiences exactly that opportunity – experiencing the production that went to NYC this summer. The March production also gives long-time Looking for Lilith Theatre Company supporters an opportunity to revisit a production which, say the Co-Artistic Directors, “people keep asking, when will you present “Alice” again?” Playwright Rice is delighted that Lilith’s relationship with Alice in Black and White is “proving to be ongoing. I love this company’s work,” she states. The originally-planned CAREFULLY TAUGHT by Cheryl Davis will now anchor LFL’s 2017-2018 season in Fall of 2017.

UNHEARD [outloud] A Festival Celebrating 15 Years JULY 12-23, 2017
Uplifting UNHEARD voices for 15 years, LFL presents a festival of original works, collaborations, workshops, music and more. LFL contributions to UNHEARD [outloud] will be a revival of one of LFL’s originally-devised works, still to be announced; Defining Infinity, devised by Co-Artistic Director Trina Fischer, in collaboration with other company members; and workshops highlighting LFL’s work with children and youth, Spanish-speaking communities and exploration of community-wide concerns.

LFL will produce Louisville-area playwright Nancy Gall-Clayton's one act script, I’m Wearing My Own Clothes, about Civil War-era Dr. Mary Walker whose activism and individualism included dressing in pants. This is the first play LFL has commissioned in our 15-year history.

Other key appearances include:

Newly formed Resonant Light Theater Project (Kelsey Thompson and Ben Gierhart) will contribute Look Me In The Eye, a satirical exploration of issues of consent.

Pandora Productions joins Lilith to create a signature cabaret piece highlighting straight women and LBTQIA+ women composers and lyricists.

Berea-based theatre artist Adanma Onyedike Barton brings her brand new, one-woman show, Lost and Found to UNHEARD [outloud], exploring the often hidden experience of miscarrying a child.

Additional guests and programming for UNHEARD [outloud], along with dates and location, will be announced in the coming months.
