2024 SUMMER DRAMA CAMPS

LFL's Summer Drama programs are a gentle introduction to theatre and drama, incorporating life skills, teamwork, imagination building and social justice themes in a fun and supportive environment. Our professional teaching artists guide participants in dramatic play, devising, and theatrically sharing their discoveries by using the same tools and techniques we use in our original productions.

All summer drama camps culminate
in a final sharing on the last day.
All prices include a camp t-shirt.

KIDSPEAK: Play and Pretend with Puppets
Escape into the pages of folk tales and other children’s stories from around the world, discover characters and environments, and work in recreating/re-writing the stories through the magic of puppets. Participants will explore how to handle real life peer conflicts, practicing some ways to express anger safely, calm down & problem-solve, in a setting that for them is joyful play and pretend. Each camper will create their own puppet - we provide the materials, you provide the personality!

AGES: 12-15

PUBLIC PERFORMANCE: June 12th @7:30p

This program is open to all youth of marginalized genders.
(i.e. girl, young woman, trans, non-binary)

GIRLSPEAK
Your stories, your way! Working to craft a play that explores ideas, issues and themes that matter to each of you, you all will be guided by LFL Teaching Artists in the same kind of collaborative playwriting techniques used in creating LFL's professional shows. At a time in your lives when you may feel like few adults take you seriously, we want to give you the chance to express who you are and what is important to you, in a safe, trusting, fun environment.

YOUTHSPEAK
What’s the story, y’all? Have you ever wanted to create a play based on your own life, your own experiences, your own thoughts and feelings? Come tell your stories your way, by participating in artistic team building and collaborative playwriting activities that will lead to the creation of an original play based on a topic of your group's choosing.
