RESONANT LIGHT THEATRE PROJECT

Resonant Light Theater Project (Ben Gierhart and Kelsey Thompson) aims to create and/or produce theater that illuminates the human experience and amplifies unheard voices. Look Me in the Eye is their first piece and will serve as a sharp examination of the issue of consent that will be told in unexpected but nonetheless revelatory ways. A diverse ensemble will guide the audience through a variety of emotions by way of dramatic scenes, comedic skits and personal monologues.

ACTING ENSEMBLE
Ben Gierhart: Ben is an actor, writer and director who has worked with several companies around town. You may have recently seen him on stage as Zangara in Assassins with CenterStage and Raskolnikov in Crime and Punishment with Savage Rose. He has also assistant directed Hedwig and the Angry Inch and The Boys in the Band for Pandora Productions. His play Another Man’s Treasure won the 2016 Charles M. Getchell New Play Award, and his next play, The Moon in the Water will be featured in Pandora Productions’ upcoming Playdates reading series. Ben can’t wait to share Resonant Light Theatre Project and Look Me in the Eye with you! As always, Ben would like to thank his mom, his friends and his boyfriend, Mike for their unyielding love and support. He’d also like to extend a thank you to Kelsey and the rest of the ensemble. This project would not be possible without them!

Kelsey Thompson: Kelsey is a Louisville native with a BFA in Directing from Western Kentucky University. Kelsey serves on the Board for Savage Rose Classical Theatre Company and has enjoyed working with other local favorites including Pandora Productions, Looking for Lilith, Kentucky Shakespeare, and the Louisville Ballet. Kelsey would like to thank Looking for Lilith for this opportunity, Darren and Paula for their talents, her family and Corey for their love and support, and her creative partner Ben Gierhart for his unwavering commitment to telling a story the way it’s meant to be told. “Nolite te bastardes carborundorum.”

Darren Harbour: Darren is a legally blind performing artist. He has appeared with WhoDunnit Murder Mystery Theater several times, most recently as Joel Hart in Deadly Recursion. Other recent credits include Bill in Sure Thing by David Ives, produced by Braille Readers’ Theater, and Papa Shakespeare in The African Theater Company’s Richard III at the University of Louisville. UofL is also where he earned his Bachelor’s in Communications. Darren also works with Commonwealth Theatre Center as a children’s outreach artist and is the founder, director and producer of Imagine Blind Players, Inc. He would like to thank the Most High God as well as his supportive family and friends. “Darren blinks the eye(I)s of InspIratIon wherever he finds himself: Insight, Influence, Integrity.”

Paula O. Lockhart: Paula is delighted to join Resonant Light Theatre Project for Look Me In The Eye Originally from Saint Marys, GA, Paula moved to Louisville to attend graduate school at The University of Louisville. Her past credits include: Rose from Fences, Miss Pearl from Flyin’ West, Playwright from This Is Not The Play, and Abuela from Bloodline Rumba. At a time when we are thought to constantly think critically, the one thing that doesn’t need much extra consideration is consent. No means no. Yes means yes. Paula finds this piece important because issues of consent and autonomy, especially body autonomy, are always being tested. 

Corey Long: Corey is a long time actor of the Louisville area. After attending Indiana University Southeast for Theatre, Corey has worked with many companies including Pandora Productions, Finnegan Productions, Savage Rose Classical Theatre Company, Louisville Repertory Company, Derby City Playwrights, and Specific Gravity Ensemble. Some of his favorite roles have included Horst from Bent, Dr. Einstein from Arsenic and Old Lace, and more recently Dennis from The Last Party. He would as always like to shout out to his family and his special lady Kelsey for all the love and support.
