*This camp is designed to center and lift up the talents of young people of color in Louisville's west end and other historically underserved neighborhoods. If your camper does not fall within these demographics, they may still be able to attend. Please contact camp director Morgan Younge, morgan@lookingforlilith.org, to discuss.
Before there were superheroes, there were Gods! Join us as we follow the Hip Hop rap and dance battling tale of Hercules! A not so regular b-boy destined for greatness. Herc's neighborhood is having its annual block party. This is where the battle to become the next Immortal MC goes down! With the whole block watching and betting on his defeat, our hero will have to face his fears and compete in front of the ultimate judge, his father Zeus. Twelve rounds... lyric for lyric... dance move for dance move… Herc will battle MC's from all over the hood! Including Nemean the Lion, the Birds of Stymphalian and a nine-headed snake called Hydra - all trying to stop him from gaining the street cred he deserves. He only has one pr...pr...pro... problem.
This one-week camp is designed for students 9-14. During camp students will have the opportunity to rap and dance, write and read, and create and paint, leading up to the final performance of Morgan Younge’s dynamic script. A final sharing will be held on the last day of camp, with a public performance on Saturday, October 7th at the St. James Court Art Show on the Fund for the Arts Stage.
